Rep. Doug Lamborn on Transportation Issues:
Rep. Lamborn believes that transportation projects by state or federal government should concentrate on roads and highways, because at this time mass transit has too few users to justify major infusions of tax dollars.
Currently only 92 cents of every federal gas tax dollar returns to Colorado. Rep. Lamborn supports and will work to achieve 100% parity to return every penny possible of the federal gas tax dollars Coloradans pay at the pump.
Although clean air is very important, it is sometimes used by environmental extremists merely as an excuse to limit the personal use of automobiles or to stop much needed road construction projects that will ease traffic and ultimately, pollution. Environmental claims must therefore be balanced with good science, economic progress and quality of life gained through relieving traffic congestion.
Doug has consistently worked to increase funding for highway projects statewide and particularly in El Paso County. Rep. Lamborn was responsible for renaming I-25 through El Paso County the “Ronald Reagan Highway” to honor one of the greatest presidents in our Country’s history. Rep. Lamborn has fought continued attempts to siphon off highway money into politically correct diversions and away from road construction.
